Where Civic Technology, Data, and Design Align!

To celebrate 2017 International Open Data Day and kick off NYC’s open data week, 276 participants, 66 speakers, 35 Volunteers, and 13 Sponsors and Community Partners met at Rise New York to engage in a thought provoking day about technology, data, design, and the future of digital civics!

Not only did we host more workshops than panels, this year we reached out in ways we haven’t before. For the first time we asked you to submit session proposals – eight of which presented.

As a community driven conference, NYC School of Data’s strives to be an inclusive environment that reflects the ideals of our community. We also always hope that our speakers reflect who are participants are. This year, between our 66 speakers, we had complete gender parity.

We were also proud to receive recognition from the Mayor’s Office for our efforts in expanding the conversation around technology and government. This year 25% of our participants indicated they worked within government or as government contractors.

Did you missed A Session?

We recorded all the panels hosted in the Theater and Board Room. See below a list of our recorded sessions.
