Three ways we help New Yorkers access information & use technology.
We develop public interest technology leaders.
We run a series of leadership programs that help individuals gain data analytics, GIS, public service, and technology skills. Individuals leave well-positioned to further their education or enter public interest technology or public service careers. For the select few, we hire them as staff.

We respond to emergent needs with appropriate uses of technology and NYC open data.
Our Civic Innovation Lab runs a research and data assistance help desk, “RADAR” for short. This is where we help government agencies and community-based organizations derive insights, navigate complex questions, and use open data. Through our collaborative process, we use data, technology, and design to help them meet their needs.
We demystify and teach how to use data for good.
NYC needs more leaders who are data and digitally literate. We produce public programs that engage a diverse community of neighbors, elders, and teachers. We cultivate current and future leaders through public programs that foster community and conversation. These public interest technology events unite people to learn about open data, engage with civic stakeholders, and connect with their neighbors.
