Kayla Schwoerer, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Policy at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany, SUNY. She is also a Fellow at UAlbany’s Center for Technology and Government (CTG), affiliated faculty at the AI Plus Institute, and a CLEAR Fellow at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Civic Leadership Education and Research (CLEAR) Initiative. Her research focuses on understanding and improving the ways that public and nonprofit organizations use data, design, and digital technologies to deliver programs and services and engage diverse communities, including the increasingly important role of civic tech and public interest technology communities in reshaping interactions between the government and the public it serves.
