Meet BetaNYC’s New Public Programs Consultant!

As February begins, we’re charging full steam ahead toward School of Data and Open Data Week 2025. Alongside this momentum, we’re excited to welcome Duncan Ballantine as our new Public Programs Consultant! With a background in event production, live shows, creative experiences, and community engagement, Duncan brings fresh energy and expertise to our team. He will support event production for School of Data and Open Data Week and ensure our events continue to inspire and uplift our community. Keep reading below to learn more about Duncan!


Duncan Ballantine  (He/Him/His) – Public Programs Consultant

Duncan is a Public Programs Consultant at BetaNYC with a professional background in creative experiences, event production, and live shows. Based in Ridgewood, Queens, Duncan is an adaptable problem solver and organizer who values open communication, community connection, and growth through learning. He believes strong communities are a superpower that can come together to achieve positive change through collaboration, diverse perspectives, and shared purpose.

An active urban cyclist, Duncan is involved in street safety advocacy in Ridgewood and greater New York City, utilizing open data from DOT and other city agencies to understand crash hot spots and gaps in the city’s bike network. He is a community bike ride leader and volunteer course marshal with Bike New York. 

His hobbies include photography, cycling, and exploring the outdoors on hiking and bikepacking trips.
