For Open Data Week 2021, our Civic Innovation Fellows will be hosting NINE introduction to open data classes. These open data classes are based on our years of experience teaching you how to use OUR data.
Did you know New York City’s open data portal has over 3,000 data sets? If you’re not an expert, we have a workshop to help you understand the bits from bytes, sorts from filters, and groups from counts.
This workshop will introduce you to the fundamental terms and processes needed to understand NYC’s open data. Additionally, we will orient you to several nyc open data tools to help inform your decision-making.

BetaNYC has designed trainings and tools specifically intended to help the general public and community boards access, analyze, map and use government data to inform neighborhood decision-making. These insights come from a multi-year partnership with the Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer.

Our Civic Innovation Fellows have trained to become Open Data Ambassadors. Join a pair of them for a lively introduction to NYC’s history and government, our City’s Open Data movement, 311, BoardStat, and the Open Data Platform. Co-created with the Mayor’s Office of Data Analytics, the class is sure to get you up to speed with these important developments in NYC civic life and leave you more engaged than ever.
